Proofpoint selects TelecityGroup to host European data centre operations for its SaaS based security and compliance solutions
Leading US Email Security Provider Selects TelecityGroup for Continued Global Expansion
FRANKFURT – 22 July 2009: Proofpoint, a leading provider of SaaS based email security, compliance, and eDiscovery solutions, has selected TelecityGroup to provide data centre operations in Frankfurt and Amsterdam for its hosted email security and compliance offerings. The contract will enable Proofpoint to comply with stringent IT security requirements, maintain its focus on service delivery, reduce operational costs and guarantee quality of service as the company expands its distribution channels and customer base in Europe. Frankfurt will be the primary data centre for EMEA with Amsterdam being a completely redundant data centre providing instantaneous emergency capacity, failover and disaster recovery.
The ISO 27001 certified European data centres will host Proofpoint’s family of Proofpoint on Demand™ offerings, which represents the industry’s most comprehensive SaaS solution for enterprise email security and compliance. Proofpoint on Demand includes solutions for highly-accurate protection against spam and viruses, comprehensive data loss prevention, email encryption and secure email archiving—delivered on demand for the lowest total cost of ownership.
TelecityGroup manages their facilities and secures their environments with the highest degree of diligence in order for their customers to ensure that best practices are employed throughout their operation. The data centres provide infrastructure services that allow Proofpoint to deliver reliable, scalable hosted solutions with industry-leading service-level agreements including “five nines” system availability, less than 2 minute email latency, higher than 99% anti-spam effectiveness and 100% anti-virus effectiveness.
Proofpoint serves a wide range of market sectors, including the financial services industry, for which security is paramount, so the physical security offered by TelecityGroup’s state-of-the-art data centres was a key consideration. CCTV cameras are installed that monitor Proofpoint’s infrastructure and transmit to its headquarters in the US, allowing constant remote monitoring of the equipment and offering peace of mind to its customers. Proofpoint requires resilience to be built into every level of its products to guarantee around-the-clock service to its customers.
Peter Galvin, chief marketing officer at Proofpoint said, “Given the economic advantages of hosting IT services in the cloud, an ever-increasing number of our customers are looking to deploy our SaaS solutions. Delivering business-critical services in this manner means our IT infrastructure needs to be rock solid, so it was vital to choose a hosting provider that could deliver the highly resilient and secure environments we need. TelecityGroup’s premium data centres have met our requirements on every level.”
Galvin added that, “Running the service in the cloud means our customers don’t have to take on the additional bandwidth, power, rack space, and management of an on-premise solution. Using our service increases TCO, allows our customers to get best of breed technology, gives them full control over their email and provides the highest quality operations and facilities available.”
TelecityGroup manages Proofpoint’s data centre infrastructure in Europe, providing colocation and IP connectivity services from its highly-connected data centres in Amsterdam and Frankfurt, where it also hosts two of Europe’s largest internet exchanges, AMS-IX and DE-CIX respectively. This extensive choice of available connectivity was critical in Proofpoint’s selection of TelecityGroup in order to ensure a high quality of service for its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) email security and archiving solutions.
Martin Essig, Managing Director, TelecityGroup Germany said: “A resilient, secure and highly connected hosting model is vital for the successful operation of Proofpoint’s business, and we are delighted that they have recognised our strengths in these areas. We look forward to supporting Proofpoint’s continued expansion in the European market.”
